The Islamic State has executed a 16-year old boy for missing Friday prayers at the mosque, according to AraNews. He was charged with apostasy for missing the prayers and sentenced to public beheading by a local sharia court.
The execution took place in Jarablus, northern Aleppo province in Islamic-State-controlled Syria.
“Before carrying out the execution, a Sharia official read a statement issued by the ISIS Sharia Court, vowing everyone who misses prayers at the mosque to face a similar punishment,” an eyewitness told AraNews.
The Islamic State implements its strict understanding of sharia in the territories it controls and routinely executes people and carries out other forms of corporal punishment including lashes and amputations.
