Three weeks before the beginning of the summer Olympics, British police arrested suspected terrorists less than two kilometers from the site.
Three weeks before the beginning of the summer Olympics, British police arrested six suspected terrorists in well-planned, early-morning operations – one in a residential neighborhood about a kilometer and a half from the Olympic Park. The Associated press (AP) reported that Mizanur Rahman, a member of a Muslim activist group, said all those arrested were British Muslims.
AP reports that searches are continuing in eight separate locations in various parts of London.
The arrests came just days after two Muslim converts were held on suspicion of plotting an attack on the London Olympic canoeing venue.
Britain's terror level is listed as "substantial," one level below "severe," and means that a terrorist attack is a strong possibility.
